Cute things for your blogs

During one of my many bored moments I was snooping around the internet for things to make my blog a little more unique and I came across a few things like that clock and cute puppy. Adding it to my blog was a whole new learning thing for me but I DID IT! Html tweaking has never been a strength for me but I think I have the hang of it. Oh the possibilites! Just wait I will find banners that are cool. Choosing a standard template is just not my thing, it is like everyone else's and that is not me. I don't like being like everyone else. Anyways until I locate some more cool things (or who knows maybe I will write my own html for backgrounds lol) I will just have to suffer with "normal".

Wonder Rodent Found!

Okay my mom has been nagging me to post an update on the rodent. I found her the next day or I should say she found me. She came out looking for food and water and I quickly snatched her up and into the cage she went. Luckily she never went into the furnace grates. From what I have heard that could have been gross!

Belle the Wonder Rodent

Yesterday in our haste to get out of the house to get to school the hamster cage got left open. That means that Belle the Wonder Hamster had an entire day to get lost. Now my house is a little small but when it comes to looking for the little rodent it is huge! Where did she get to and can I locate her before my 2 cats do?! What will I tell the kids if one of the 2 cats decide to have a little snack?! Good thing the fish can't escape. And remind me again why I have so many animals? I should be do laundry but instead I will be locating this escape artist.

A little me time

Everyone needs a little me time. One of the best me times is when I get a massage. Let me tell you that nothing (well almost nothing ) beats a massage. The dim lights, the smells, the soft music, and someone massaging all the aches and pains away. Not to mention what it does for the mental health. I always feel refreshed and relaxed after that. For those of you who haven't tried it, it is a must!

My kids rooms

A few years ago my mother and I undertook a large task. We took the upper floor of my house and converted it from one room to two rooms for my kids. I gutted the entire upper floor (it was incredible fun to destroy walls lol) and we build seperate rooms. My father did the wiring. I dry walled. And my mom painted a castle theme. She did ceiling and floors to, all the stairs, even the door leading up. Here are some pictures of the final product.

This is my son's room:

This my daughter's room:

We starte building in Nov. 04 and finished the building in April 05. The painting actually finished about Mar. 06. It was a lot of work but many people love it and the kids are thrilled with it! Thank you Mom for the hard work you did and I love you for it!!!

I thought I was prepared...

Since last week I ran around with my head cut off and vowed that this week I would be better prepared. On Sunday night I had lunches made, clothes put out of all three of us, coffee prepared (all I had to do was turn in on). Everything was going great. In the morning I did the usual routine, put out the cats, feed the kids, etc. We actually had time to think. This was also the morning that the kids and I started to walk. Well we get out the door and I realized one thing that I had overlooked. I put the cats out. These two cats will follow us to school then to work. Damn! I thought I could convince them not to follow us. Got the kids to walk to the corner while I stayed behind with the cats. Then I followed the cats and just what happened? Yes they started to follow. I told the kids to go onto school while I scared the cats back. So I walk back and startle them back to the house. I thought that would have told them not to follow me. I started walking down the hill to work. I turned around and noticed that they had started to follow me again. Well I went back to the house and tried to get them back in the house but no.... they just sat there and stared at me like I was an idiot. Finally I had to in and get their treats. I shook the bag and sure enough they decided to come in. That was my monday morning lol. Thought I had it all planned out and a couple of cats told me otherwise.

Family Update

For all those that I haven't kept in contact with here is an update into my life. Being a seperated single mom is very hard. I somehow balance work, school, kids, and a little social life. The kids are doing great and have grown like weeds. My daughter alone is almost the same height as me and she is only in Grade 4. My son is not far behind either, who is now in Grade 2. Let me tell you that it has been difficult to balance two grades with studying and homework, keep the house half ass clean, laundry, meals, work, keeping in touch with the outside world, referee the occasional tiff between siblings, make sure all various species of animals have food and water. Whew I am tired just writing about it lol. Since this was the first full week back to school it was hellish and more than one morning we had to rush out the door to get to school. Not to mention the few occasions that we had to go back to the house to get something that was forgotten. Wow what a week. Hopefully I have my act together next week, can't handle the rushing around with my head cut off lol.

Time for a Change

Today I got the news that what I am eating is effecting me in a bad way. Now I have to say goodbye to my long time friend...Chocolate. Not to mention all greasy food has to leave my diet. Time to replace it with salads and exercise. Wish me luck with this endeavor.

What is with all the Spiders

I don't know what is up with all the spiders around my house. I seem to have an abundance of cat faced spiders aka: cottage spiders, barn spiders. The other week I went out at dusk, this is when they come out into their webs, to kill one that was scaring the kids and I counted 10 around my house. I HATE SPIDERS. I used a long extending pole to smush them, screeched when they climbed down the pole (to attack me of course), did the heeby jeeby dance and cursed. Must have been great entertainment for the neighbors. But I was scared. Oh the things I won't do for my kids. Now here is a picture for you all to enjoy what I have to endure (at least until the cold comes....never wanted winter to come so bad.)

A wtf day

Yesterday was one of those WTF days. It all started the day before when a friend and I went into Saskatoon to do hair for a wedding. Let me explain by doing hair I mean that my friend did the hair and I stood there holdng bobby pins or whatever else it was that was required. Anyways we left Dodge and drove to Saskatoon. Nothing happened on the way there but when we arrived we called a friend to get directions to their house and the directions read like this....go down the street till you get to a loopty loop and go over a bridge. Anyways we completely missed the loopty loop and had to do some backtracking. Luckily we managed to get there in one piece.
Once there we decided that it would be easier to stay in a hotel that was closer to the place that we had to do the hair. We started driving there, pull up to a red light and there is this woman yelling at us from a car beside us. Turns out it is the woman that we are to be putting rag rollers in her hair in prep. for the next day. Being that we are at an intersection the other car pulls off to a side road and we pull a few crazy moves to follow her. Well that was exciting. Anyways we get to the hotel we are staying at. I get out to see if there is any rooms left while they go park the car. To make a long story a little shorter we get the room and finish putting in the rag rollers at 2:00 in the morning. We finally got to sleep at 3 in the morning and we had be at this other hotel at 8:45 the next morning.
Here is where the WTF day begins. The alarms go off at 8:45 as planned but we kept hitting snooze. We realize the time and we are late. No time for COFFEE....for those that know me I NEED MY COFFEE IN THE MORNING! Anyways...we gather our stuff, grab the keys and head down to the lobby to check out. We get there and see that there is a line. Well that was one bad start. We get checked out and proceeded to the elevator to go to the underground parking. We hit the down button and another lady hits the up button. Both elevators get there at the same time and there is no arrows to indicate which car is going which way. We picked an elevator and guess what? You guessed it! I went all the way to the top stopping at every floor.
Finally we get to the car after cursing how the day started....remember none of us has coffee in our systems. Pull out of the garage and start heading to the next hotel to do hair (which is only a few blocks away). Miss the turn, have to go over the bridge and down a ways before we can turn around to go back. Get to the turn, realize that we can't turn there from our side and have to go further down until we can turn around again. We finally get there and rush into the hotel....jump in the elevator hit the button. The door closes and then......nothing!!! We aren't moving. Here's me a little irritated and hitting the button repeatedly. Still nothing. I looked at my friend at told her to call up and get them to come down while I go in search of some much needed COFFEE!!! I find the cafe and ask the lady there for two coffees to go and she must have noticed the look on my face because she gave me the coffee free of charge and said "Noone should have to go without coffee."
I locate mt friend and one of the ladies form the bridal party was there and she informed us that we needed a key to access the 6th floor because it was a privacy floor. Well I felt stupid but at least I had my coffee.
The rest of the morning was hell! Late bridesmaids, frazzled Bride, rag rollers that got tangled in hair and we had to cut out a few, because of the rags rollers the lady looked like Shirley Temple.
Finally it is all over and we head out to finally eat. Get to the restaurant and our food took forever to get to us because my vegetarian lasange got stolen?? Whatever. Eat and leave. Light up a smoke and walk to the car. Notice that the car (new one that belongs to my friends boyfriend) has been hit! Oh we can't believe the day we are having!!!
After that we decided to get our stuff done fast and get the hell out of there! I never was so happy to get to bed that night and just forget about that day!!
